Good morning, and welcome! I decided to create a blog specifically for discussion on books, writing, and anything literature-related.
So, why “The Parlor”? Southern Debutantes and European royalty had parlors in their homes. And I am a Southern gal with a “kingly” name, so I thought that “parlor” was fitting. According to Dictionary.com, a parlor is 1) a room for the reception and entertainment of visitors to one’s home; living room; 2) a room, apartment, or building serving as a place of business for certain businesses or professions; 3) a somewhat private room in a hotel, club, or the like for relaxation, conversation, etc.; lounge; or 4) Also called locutorium. a room in a monastery or the like where the inhabitants may converse with visitors or with each other.
I like to think of The Parlor as a combination of #1 and #3, a place where I can entertain my friends, where they can come to relax and make conversation about their love of literature and writing.
So, take a look around The Parlor and enjoy!
